Description
1. General Description
An atmospheric pressure sensor is used to detect changes in barometric pressure that can alter the intake air density, resulting in improper air-fuel ratio. To compensate for this type of deviation, the amount of fuel injected is controlled. For example, the amount of fuel injected is decreased to compensate for the lower intake air density caused by the decreased barometric pressure.(high altitude). The atmospheric pressure sensor is located in the ECM. In case of a barometric pressure sensor failure, the following engine actions will occur :
Barometric pressure is fixed at a value of 900 hPa, by the ECM, when both the boost pressure and the barometric pressure sensor are defective at the same time.
2. DTC Description
If an extremely low or high altitude is being read by the barometric pressure sensor during two driving cycles, this code will be set .
