The fuel fired heater is intended to compensate for the shortage in heat generated by engines optimized for low fuel consumption. When the temperature of the coolant and atmosphere reach operating conditions, the fuel fired heater starts operation. When the temperature of the coolant and atmosphere reach operating conditions, the fuel fired heater starts operation. After an initial starting operation, the fuel fired heater is activated and deactivated repeatedly in accordance with the temperature of coolant. i.e, When the coolant is above normal operating temperature, the fuel fired heater stops operation and when it’s below, vice versa.
The ECM sets DTC 1013 if the flame is out 3 times during heating cycle.
