Vehicle speed sensor is hall sensor type and it detects vehicle speed as sensing the rotation of driving shaft through drive gear installed at transaxle differential gear.
Vehicle speed signal inputted to ECM is used as correction signal for the calculation of optimum fuel injection quantity as comparing current engine speed with vehicle speed. Vehicle speed signal is also used in signal for cluster (speedometer), ETACM, navigation system and audio head unit.
P0503 is set when vehicle speed detected by vehicle speed sensor is above 220Kph for more than 1 sec. This code is due to the failure of vehicle speed sensor component or vehicle speed sensor circuit.
