DTC | Diagnostic item |
P1515 P1516 | Idle Speed Actuator Command Signal Incorrect (Coil 1) Idle Speed Actuator Command Signal Incorrect (Coil 2) |
DESCRIPTION
The Idle Speed Control (ISC) actuator has two coils that are drivenby separate ECM driver stages. Depending on the pulseduty factor, the equilibriumof the magnetic forces of the two coils will result in different directionsfor the magneticforces of the two coils which will result in different positionsfor the actuator. In parallel to the throttle valve, a bypass hose line isarranged where the ISC actuator is inserted.
FAILURE CONDITIONS
The ECM will set a code and the MIL will turn on if ISC actuator's openingcoil driver stage [for P1515] or closing coil driver stage [for P1516] isshorted to battery voltage during two driving cycles.
