Component Location
General Description

The EPB system is the shorten word of Electric Parking Brake system. This system is the parking brake device which is used instead of the conventional hand-break system. When a driver presses the EPB button, the button signal is delivered to the EPB ECU and then the EPB actuator which consists of a motor and a gears is activated. At this time, while the motor in the EPB actuator rotates, the motor pulls the EPB cable connected to the rear wheels. Among components of EPB system, the force sensor is installed inside of the EPB ASS'Y and its role is to senses the tension of the parking cable.

DTC Description

The EPB ECU monitors the signal of the force sensor and if its signal is out of the normal range or it is detected as a signal error, this DTC is set.

DTC Detecting Condition

Item

Detecting Condition

Possible Cause

DTC Strategy

Signal monitoring

Open/short in the force sensor circuit

Faulty force sensor(inside of EPB ASS'Y)

Faulty EPB ECU

(inside of EPB ASS'Y)

Threshold value

When the supply voltage(5V) is out of the normal range

When the output signal is below 0.1V or above 4.9V

When the signal of the force sensor is abnormal

Fail-Safe

The EPB functions are inhibited.
