The EPB is the acronym for Electric Parking Brake system. Instead of using pedal or lever, using switch can apply parking brake. Drive controls switch ? switch signal to ECU ? ECU activate actuator ? parking brake Apply/Release. When EPB switch is pulled, parking brake gets Applied. When EPB switch is pushed down, parking brake is released.
EPB ECU sets this DTC when there is problem with rear left actuator.
Item
Detecting Condition
Possible Cause
DTC Strategy
Monitoring motor rotating time and activation current
No disc or pad
Wiring problem
Faulty Brake caliper assembled condition
Faulty actuator
Enable conditions
IG ON
Battery voltage between 8.5V and 17V
EPB apply or release
Threshold value
If actuator runs for long time
If left motor current is much bigger than right motor current
Motor current decrease rapidly or runs for long time
Actuator runs for enough time but adequate clamping force was not achieved
Fail Safe
Left actuator activation inhibited
